The Transport Ministry has announced the abolishment of driving licence fees for about 230,000 disabled (OKU) licence holders.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said the abolishment of fees for OKU motorcycle licences was effective yesterday while abolishment of fees for OKU car licence starts on May 1.
“OKU licence holders will now only have pay RM2 which is the cost of issuing the licence,” he said at the Road Transport Department's programme to streamline Commercial Vehicle licences in Seri Manjung, near here.
Kong said the RM10 fee for the disabled applying to sit for their driving test has also been abolished effective yesterday as part of the Government's efforts to ease their burden.
Through the streamlining process, the 150,000 Goods Driving Licence (GDL) and PSV licence holders need not pay separate fees for both licences.
“Drivers holding GDL and PSV licences need to pay only RM20 a year instead of paying RM20 for GDL and PSV respectively in the past,” said Kong who is also the Lumut MP. - Bernama
